Insulate Hampshire An Award Winning Scheme

Yorkshire Energy Services who oversaw the Insulate Hampshire Scheme has won the highly acclaimed Climate Week Award 2013, in the ‘Best Local Initiative’ category,  fighting off stiff competition from 3 other finalists.
The runners up in this category included The Greater London Authority, London Borough of Camden and the Lake District National Park Authority.
The Insulate Hampshire scheme was managed by Yorkshire Energy Services, on behalf of Hampshire County Council and 11 Local and District councils across Hampshire with funding from Scottish Power.
In the judge’s view Insulate Hampshire triumphed as a result of “The work they are doing to support the local community is a fantastic example of a simple yet effective solution to climate change, that not only is having a direct impact on thousands on residents, but equally has facilitated the dissemination of information on energy efficiency among the wider public”.

The Climate Week awards are held annually they recognise the achievements of individuals, business and communities with their efforts to combat climate change. Climate week is Britain’s biggest Climate change campaign.

Over the course of the scheme 18,500 measures of cavity wall and loft insulation were delivered. Together Hampshire residents are predicted to save £2 million in energy bills and over 9,000 tonnes of CO2 in the first year alone.
The winners of the 14 different categories were announced at an awards ceremony on the 4th March 2013, this was held at the House of Commons. Wrap Up Leeds Runners

Staff from Yorkshire Energy Services took part in Age UK’s 10K run last Sunday in Harewood to raise money for charity and promote Wrap Up Leeds, a new council backed insulation scheme operating throughout the authority.

Emma Kovaleski, Liz Henry and Susannah Williams joined 1,200 runners from across the West Yorkshire district. Star runner Emma finished 43rd out of the 562 female competitors. Delighted with her time she felt the day was a great success. “It was a brilliant day; it was muddy and slippery but a lot of fun for a great cause.”
 
Emma, Liz and Susannah were easily spotted on the day, running in their burgundy Wrap Up Leeds shirts to help raise awareness of the free insulation scheme. Yorkshire Energy Services are managing Wrap Up Leeds on behalf of Leeds City Council. The scheme offers all homeowners and private renting tenants in the area free cavity wall insulation and free loft insulation where technically suitable. The offer works on a first come first served basis until 15,000 Leeds homes have been wrapped up.

Yorkshire Energy Services Launch National Free Insulation Scheme

The award winning Community Interest Company, Yorkshire Energy Services have launched an innovate programme offering homeowners across England access to complementary home insulation measures (subject to survey).

The new scheme is available throughout all English counties and aims to connect local residents with local installers. Homeowners will not only receive free cavity wall insulation and/or free loft insulation, but support the local economy by utilising local contractors.

The free offer is not means tested and available to all private residents regardless of circumstances. No matter what your household income is, you will be able to access the free service is your property is suitable.

Solutions for Fuel Poverty

Journalists from the Independent have reported that almost 9 million Britons will be living in fuel poverty within the next 4 years unless the Government offset carbon taxes for vulnerable families.*

Worrying statistics reveal that fuel poverty has risen drastically since 2004. Energy experts now fear that unless a substantial amount of money is invested, the issue is likely to spiral out of control.

Householders said to be living in Fuel poverty spend more than 10% of their income on fuel just to keep warm in their homes. Yorkshire Energy Services are among a series of conservation specialists who are striving to tackle the issue head on.

Warmer Homes – Happy Tenants – Added Value

Landlords across Leeds should act now and apply for free insulation on the Wrap Up Leeds scheme.

Run by energy experts Yorkshire Energy Services on behalf of Leeds City Council, Wrap Up Leeds is offering free cavity wall insulation and loft insulation to Leeds homeowners and those living in privately rented accommodation.

The offer is open until September 2012  for 15,000 homes, subject to survey. The scheme works on a first-come, first-served basis and hundreds of residents eager to save money and energy have already contacted the helpline to arrange their free survey. Tenants can apply to Wrap Up Leeds directly, but landlords will be contacted by the Wrap Up Team to seek their permission.

Leeds Householders Get ‘FREE’ Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation

Homeowners and private renters in Leeds can wrap up their homes for free and save up to £300 a year on their fuel bills. ‘Wrap up Leeds’ offers free cavity wall and loft insulation to homeowners and private renters in the Leeds City Council area.

Leeds City Council and Yorkshire Energy Services are working together on the scheme, which aims to reduce fuel poverty and the ill-health it can cause while also reducing the amount of harmful carbon dioxide produced in the city. Insulation is quick and easy to install, makes your home more comfortable and can save up to £300 in an average three bedroom semi-detached property.

Wrap up Leeds goes live today (3rd January 2012) and is available for 15,000 Leeds residents on a first-come, first-served basis until September 2012. The scheme is available across the city, and the Wrap Up Leeds team will be knocking on doors in some areas of the city where the available information on fuel poverty and the types of houses suggests that free insulation will have the highest impact.

THE SOLAR PANEL IS THE NEW DESIGNER KITCHEN: PEOPLE IN YORKSHIRE AND THE HUMBER WOULD PAY MORE FOR A GREEN HOME

Over a third of people across the region would pay more for a home that had been fitted with a renewable energy source.

More than half want to know if their home is suitable for renewable energy.

Changes in the environment and changes to their income are changing the priorities and attitudes of householders across the country.

Research released Tuesday 1 September 2009 by the Energy Saving Trust reveals that almost a third of Yorkshire and the Humber residents are happy to speculate to accumulate when it comes to housebuying decisions.

Of those polled, more than  a third (35%) said they would be willing to pay more for a home where some of their energy supply came from renewable resources such as wind, solar or hydropower.

And it seems they are more interested than ever about installing a renewable energy source to their property. Of those surveyed, 55 percent said they would like to know if their home is suitable for renewable energy.
