Cutting the Confusion out of ECO & Green Deal – A simple guide for Local Authorities

Tuesday, February 24th, 2015

Energy efficiency experts, YES Energy Solutions and APSE have developed a handy ‘how to’ guide for Local Authorities to learn about the benefits of introducing ECO and Green Deal initiatives.

ECO and Green Deal GuideIt’s fair to say that ECO and Green Deal have become something of a minefield since their launch in 2013. There has been a lot of noise made about these flagship Government initiatives, but do Local Authorities really know what they are all about and how they could use them to cut CO2 and reduce fuel poverty?

YES Energy Solutions have a rich history of Local Authority collaborations and were amongst the first industry pioneers to work under the ECO and Green Deal framework. They are keen to share their knowledge and experience and help Local Authorities take full advantage of the energy saving opportunities from these key Government policies.

The main purpose of the Guide is to strip down all the confusing technical jargon and simply explain how ECO and Green Deal work, what each scheme is trying to achieve and how Local Authorities can get involved.

The Guide, titled – ‘What is ECO and Green Deal’, provides information on the ECO funding criteria, the full scope of the Green Deal supply chain and how initial property assessments influence how much funding is available to householders.

Green Deal Overview

Friday, October 19th, 2012

The UK Government has released its most ambitious conservation initiative to date, aiming to revolutionise energy efficiency standards for both homes and businesses.

Representatives of the award winning community interest company, Yorkshire Energy Services, explain how Green Deal intends to transform the UK’s sustainable energy industry for the better.

Green Deal in practise

Green Deal is an innovative programme set to reduce or eradicate the upfront costs of energy saving products and services. Homeowners and businesses can improve the efficiency of their properties with a broad range of installations without straining their financial resources.

The scheme offers a finance mechanism, where customers can access a loan to pay for energy efficiency improvements such as insulation, heating or renewable technologies. Repayments are then split into instalments and tied to the property’s electricity meter.

What makes Green Deal different to other finance programmes is that repayments are set at a lower rate than the money saved on fuel bills through the related products. Therefore customers will always be financially better off for taking part in Green Deal, reduce their fuel bills and reap the benefits of a warmer and more efficient property.
