YES Become Pioneer Green Deal Provider

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has announced that Yorkshire Energy Services is to become one of its Pioneer Green Deal Providers and join a small number of companies from across the UK in the pilot programme.

Yorkshire Energy Services will play an active role in the Green Deal in providing and managing the finance needed for householders and small businesses to access effective energy saving services.

The highly anticipated Green Deal is set to launch in October 2012 and will help thousands of residents save energy through domestic installations such as insulation, central heating and renewable technologies with no upfront costs. Unlike other finance programmes, repayments on the Green Deal loan are linked to the participant’s energy bills and set at a lower rate than the money they saved on energy over a fixed period. Customers are therefore able to save money and improve their home’s efficiency without breaking the bank.

YES become a pioneer Green Deal provider

Chief Executive of Yorkshire Energy Services, William Edrich, is delighted to support Green Deal and work in partnership with DECC on the initial developments of the programme. “It is an honour to work with DECC be representing the SME’s within the Green Deal Pilot. We have over 11 years experience delivering innovative and ground breaking energy efficiency schemes like the Green Deal and look forward to demonstrating our expertise in order to shape and model an effective Green Deal process. YES work within the local community and excel in the delivery of community based work. Our ethos as a community interest company is to invest profits made back into schemes to further assist communities and are committed to supporting the local economy.”

Journalists from the Independent have reported that almost 9 million Britons will be living in fuel poverty within the next 4 years unless the Government offset carbon taxes for vulnerable families.*

Worrying statistics reveal that fuel poverty has risen drastically since 2004. Energy experts now fear that unless a substantial amount of money is invested, the issue is likely to spiral out of control.

Householders said to be living in Fuel poverty spend more than 10% of their income on fuel just to keep warm in their homes. Yorkshire Energy Services are among a series of conservation specialists who are striving to tackle the issue head on.

A NATION OF HOMEBIRDS: PEOPLE IN YORKSHIRE AND HUMBER SPENDING MORE TIME AT HOME THAN EVER BEFORE

New survey reveals increase in the amount of time people are spending indoors.

Hallway is the coldest room in the house for Yorkshire and Humber homeowners.

Energy Saving Trust launches an Energy Spring Clean to make homes more energy efficient – and warmer too.

A new survey has revealed that people in Yorkshire and Humber are swapping nightlife for homelife.

The poll, conducted by ICM on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust, has revealed that more than a third (34 per cent) are spending more time at home than than before due to the economic climate.

However, whilst the lure of home is stronger than ever for people in Yorkshire and Humber, the majority will be avoiding the hallway if they can – with one in five (18  percent) people surveyed believing it is the coldest place in their home.

Now, to help combat the chill and save some money in the process, The Energy Saving Trust (xx March) is calling on people in Yorkshire and Humber to give their home a dust-down and take a spring clean with a difference.

The organisation, which provides free and impartial energy advice to householders, has created some top-tips which can fatten your wallet, reduce your carbon footprint – and make Yorkshire and Humber homes warmer than ever.

Energy Saving Trust Chief Executive Philip Sellwood, said: “The worst winter in years and having to watch our spending has forced many of us to spend more time at home than ever before.

“Now, Spring is upon us and it is time to take the Energy Saving Trust’s Energy Spring Clean Challenge and see your energy bills tumble.

“Our top tips are simple and some can be done in a matter of seconds. Some of them only require the flick of a switch or the turn of a tap.

“Following our advice will help save you money which could then be spent on items like loft insulation which will make your house warmer next winter.”

The Energy Saving Trust has created a list of 10 things every householder should do*:
