World Car Free Day

Help us to celebrate World Car Free day on Wednesday 22nd September and you could win a week’s free travel on public transport anywhere in West Yorkshire!

Did you know that single car occupancy accounts for almost 80%* of peak traffic in our region? With the Governments ambitious carbon reduction targets looming, more and more people are being encouraged to reassess how they travel in order to save energy and address the threat of climate change.

Ahead of ‘World Car Free’ day on 22nd September, the Energy Saving Trust advice centre for South and West Yorkshire are encouraging regular car users to give sustainable transport a go.  Options for sustainable travel are developing quickly within West Yorkshire and it is getting much easier to leave the car at home. In Leeds, the newly launched Cyclepoint is encouraging commuters to abandon cars altogether, whilst other companies are prompting staff to catch public transport and share the car journey with their colleagues.
