Solar PV Panels: No Cost, No Income

Solar PV (electricity generating) panels have very much been in the spotlight lately, with some companies offering completely free solar PV panels.

Whilst the free panels are a great offer if all you are wanting is some free electricity, you may be signing a potential £23,000 income away!

The Government announced in April this year a new incentive to install electricity generating technologies –known as the ‘Feed in Tariff’. This means that for every kW of electricity you generate through technologies such as solar panels, you get paid for it.

Jos Mister, the Energy Saving Trust’s  regional Microgeneration Coordinator explained “Depending on the size of the solar PV system you install, your feed-in tariff will generate a fixed amount for 25 years, plus an added income from selling surplus unused electricity back to the grid along with free electricity.”
