Penguin Power!

Friday, August 19th, 2016

Staff at YES Energy Solutions have raised over £500 for the charity –  Renewable World, by taking on the Sheffield Big Fun Run dressed as penguins.

Penguin-Power-(Web)Our penguin athletes completed the 5K Challenge in less than 35 minutes on Sunday 14th August at the Rother Valley Country Park.

The money the team have raised for Renewable World is enough to give five families in Nicaragua access to solar power for a year, meaning they no longer have to pollute their home with toxic kerosene fumes and that their children have light to study by in the evening.

YES Energy Solutions chose to dress up as penguins to replicate their own company mascot – Percy the Penguin!

It’s not too late to donate to the cause

YES Wins Collaboration of the Year Award

Friday, June 3rd, 2016

YES Energy Solutions takes home ‘Collaboration of the Year’ at the 2016 Worcester Bosch E2020 Awards.

E2020-Winners

Our ‘Heat Pumps for Park Homes’ project in Basingstoke was commended by judges at this year’s prestigious awards ceremony, held at Stanbrook Abbey Hotel near Malvern on 1st June.

We joined a multitude of installers and industry chiefs to celebrate the best energy efficiency initiatives and installations in the UK.

Our partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Sussex based installers, Paynes Heating and Plumbing ltd, was praised for its impact on the local community.

Since winning funding through the Technical Innovation Fund, we have launched an exciting renewable energy project which is helping up to 30 Park Homes in Basingstoke transform their heating facilities.

The Technical Innovation Fund is a GB-wide programme designed and administered by NEA, the national fuel poverty charity. Its aim is to facilitate community-level trials of innovative solutions utilising measures that are not traditionally used within the scope of current fuel poverty and retrofit energy efficiency programmes.

In late 2015, YES Energy Solutions teamed up with the Council to help a group of Park Home owners reduce their energy costs and move over to more sustainable household heating.

The project has funded the installation of Air to Air Heat Pumps – a renewable energy technology that transforms air from outside into heat.

Installations are now underway and all 30 units will be completed by the end of the summer.

The Worcester Bosch E2020 Awards celebrate those that have made a commitment to tackling Climate Change. As one of the UKs largest boiler manufacturers, Worcester Bosch reward organisations, community groups and installers who have demonstrated commitment to cutting CO2.

E2020 Awards

Friday, May 27th, 2016

YES Energy Solutions’ Heat Pumps for Park Homes project has been nominated for the Worcester Bosch Environment 2020 Awards.

Park HomesOur collaboration with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Paynes Plumbing and Heating has been recognised for its impact on alleviating fuel poverty in Park Homes.

Since November 2015 we have been helping Park Home owners upgrade their home heating systems by transferring over to renewable energy alternatives.

Through the Technical Innovation Fund, YES Energy Solutions secured funding to install up to 30 Air to Air Heat Pumps in Park Homes at Attwood Close – a council owned site close to the town center.

Air to Air Heat Pumps transform air from outside a property into heat – helping residents slash their heating bills.

The Worcester Bosch Environment 2020 Awards celebrate organisations that make an impact in combating Climate Change in local communities. YES Energy Solutions will join a range or organisations, community groups and installers at Stanbrook Abbey Hotel near Malvern on 1st June.

Further Impediment on the Future of the Feed in Tariff

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

Following the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) unsuccessful appeal against the High Court’s ruling on UK Feed in Tariffs, solar advocates predict that the Government is likely to pursue every legal avenue available to avoid another solar feeding frenzy.

Court officials announced on Wednesday 24th Jan that DECC were denied their hearing after previously ruling that their handling of the Feed in Tariff consultation was unlawful.

This recent development indicates that any customers who have solar PV systems (of 4kW or below) installed between 12th Dec 2011 – 3rd March 2012, will have access to the original Feed in Tariff subsidy at 43.3p per Kilowatt for the full 25 year period.

However, this declaration still brings a degree of uncertainty. If the Government chooses to appeal to the Supreme Court, clarification on the process will yet again be delayed resulting in tentative consumers.

Although solar campaigners seem to have won their battle against the Government in the first instance, solar customers and installers are still waiting for any concrete evidence of Feed in Tariff stability. Cynic’s predict that the Government will try everything they can to delay the process into late February to prevent another solar installation rush.

There is still no information on what rate the Feed in Tariff will reside at for customers who get systems installed after April 2012. There is a possibility that the rate could drop again following the end result of this legal battle.
